This Bernina Model 700 is a Free arm design with a slide-on extension table to increase the sewing area for general use. Berninas are considered by many as the best vintage sewing machines due to their quality of design and manufacture. They were made in Switzerland and have a solid metal body so are extremely durable. This machine has been cleaned, checked, lubricated and tested and produces straight and zigzag stitches which are neat and tight as may be seen from the images above. Controls include Thread Tension Dial, Needle Position Lever, Stitch Length Regulator, Drop Feed-dog Control Knob and Electric Light over sewing area with on/off switch. This machine will sew backwards as well as forwards The machine comes with the original Bernina Foot Control Pedal which controls the speed of the motor according to pressure applied. The motor itself is the original Bernina motor which is powerful, smooth and quiet and has a slow and fast speed control switch. Sewing on this machine is simple and straightforward and the original Bernina Instruction Book accompanies the machine and includes instructions as to how ornamental stitching may be easily achieved. Please note a Standard Zig Zag Foot comes fitted to the machine.
